Overview

With mesmerizing summit views of Kedar, Chaukhamba, and the Himalayas, the Chandrashila trek, at an altitude of 12,083 ft. is one of the most suitable treks for beginners. A visit to the holy Tugnath temple, famous for being the highest Shiva temple in the world offers you a vantage point in the trek.

The journey to the trek takes you through Rishikesh, Sari, and Chopta, and the way is surrounded by vivacious patches of pine, oaks, and rhododendron. When here you can also indulge in bird-watching activities and lakeside picnics. Do not miss watching, the golden-breasted eagles that are a mesmerizing sight from the summit.

About the trekking experience:

  • Starting from Haridwar, the journey will take you through the famous Har ki Pauri, Chopta, and Sari along with the numerous tiny hamlets as you ascend to the top.
  • On your way, onlook the beauty of Kedar, Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi, Bandarpunch and also the Deoria Tal lake. While on the trek, you can also meditate at the famous Tugnath temple.
  • The entire distance of around 10 KM, will be covered in 4 days. An experienced guide will accompany you throughout the trek.
  • You can enjoy the beautiful views of the peaks from your stay in the high-quality alpine tents or guesthouses.
  • Hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner (vegetarian) are all included in the package. If you like exploring different cuisines then you try out the local Garhwali and Kumaoni delicacies in this region.
  • Ensure that you stay covered with thermals and enough jackets to withstand the temperature that is between 8°C to 15°C during the day and -5°C to 3°C in the night.
  • All equipment, meal areas, accommodation, etc. are sanitized before and after every use to ensure the utmost safety and hygiene of the trekkers.

Itinerary

Start your adventurous journey by boarding an evening Tempo traveler/Sedan car/ SUV car or swift Dzire (depending on the group size) from Delhi around 10:00 PM
Overnight journey in the bus

Rise-up to the mountain morning, and get enjoy a hearty breakfast (on your own) in the laps of nature
Reach Rishikesh by early morning and move to chopta
Relax and enjoy near the campsite of chopta with beautiful views of nature.
Dinner and stay overnight in chopta

After an early morning delicious breakfast at Chopta, get ready for the next destination
Start the 6 KM long trek, where you will get to know some interesting facts about the place from the locals
Reach Tungnath, which is 3680 m above the sea level. You can mediate when you reach the highest Shiva Temple in the world
Trek a few more and reach the highest destination of this trek - Chandrashila Peak
Enjoy and admire a 180-degree view of higher Himalayan peaks such as Nanda Devi, Bandarpunch, Chaukhamba, and Kedar Peak
Start the descent back to Uttarakhand's mini Switzerland, Chopta
Relax over a bonfire session in a beautiful Himalayan setting

From Sari, the journey becomes more exciting as you ascend towards Deoria Tal, which is situated at an altitude of 2438 m

During the trek, get ready to admire an air-plane view of the villages around, the fragrance of nature, which is a real treat away from the busy city life
Enjoy the scenic views of the majestic Chaukhamba peak and the pristine Deoria Tal Lake on reaching the destination
Today we end the journey with bag full of memories and head towards Delhi

What kind of fitness is required for Chandrashila trek?

Chandrashila Trek is an easy to moderate trek, however with the altitude you need to have a good fitness level as well as good stamina. With a decreasing level of oxygen, carrying a rucksack all day, and walking on uneven terrain for long hours, a good fitness level is required.

What is the best time to go for Chandrashila trek?

This is an ‘All Season Trek,’ however, the best time to go for the trek is between September and November, when the views are extremely clear and no snow. On the other hand, if you go for the trek between January and March, the trek trails will be full of snow
