About The Brahmatal Lake Trek:

Another jewel of the Himalayas which is untouched by trekkers around the world is the Brahmatal trek, which is devoted to Lord Brahma. It is beautifully positioned amidst the Himalayas and covered with blankets of snow. The trail allows you to see the centuries-old forest of Oak and Rhododendron. Walking in meadows besides Brahamatal Ridge you can see many sites of Roopkund Trek. A glance at the Garhwal Mountains in the distance on a clear day will totally melt your heart.

How to Reach Kathgodam:

By Train:

The Kathgodam station is one of the main stations in the district and it is an old station. It has good connectivity to many places and these include Lucknow, Delhi, and Howrah.

From Delhi take the Ranikhet Express (5014) Dep. Delhi at 10:40 pm arrival Kathgodam at 5:30 am (Overnight Journey) or the Uttar sampark Kranti (5035) Dep. Delhi at 4:00pm arrival Kathgodam at 10:40pm (6 hrs.40min.Journey).From Dehardun take the Doon Express (4120) Dep. Dehardun at 10:30 pm arrival Kathgodam at 7:10 pm (8hrs.journey).

By Air: The nearest airport to Kathgodam is the Pantnagar Airport located at a distance of 32kms from Kathgodam. The airport is connected with Delhi by 4 round flights per week. Taxis are easily available from the Airport to Kathgodam.

By Bus: Regular buses starts from ISBT Delhi Anand Vihar station to Kathgodam. Buses that go to Nainital stops at Haldwani which is a twin town of Kathgodham (8 hrs. Journey). Usually, buses drop you at the Haldwani bus station. From there you have to come to Kathgodham Railway Station which is 4km away.Tata Sumo or similar vehicles will pick up you from Kathgodham Railway Station We would suggest you take only government buses from ISBT Anand Vihar.

Itinerary

Upon your arrival in Kathgodam early morning, you will be picked from the railway station or bus stand.
You will be travelling for 9 hours to reach Lohajung which is 225 KM away from Kathgodam.
By late afternoon, you will reach Lohajung where you will be staying at night in a guest house.

Today's trek will start after breakfast. Commence the trip to Bekaltal.
En route, let your eyes enjoy some awe-inspiring views of Nandaghunti Peak.
Trek through the forests of oaks and firs. Conclude the 4-5 hours long trek after you reach Bekaltal. The total distance you cover would be 8 KMs.
Stay overnight in tents.

Enjoy the snow-covered pathways that let you reach Brahmatal. It will take around 4 hours to complete the trek.
The trails go through a forest and when you reach Telindi top, behold the enchanting views of the mighty Himalayas.
Continue walking to finally arrive in Brahmatal or Khabekhal Lake.
Stay overnight in tents.

Right after breakfast, get ready to climb to the top of Brahmatal.
Tread along the tricky pathways which go through Chota Jhandidar and Bada Jhandidar.
This trail is encircled by a mountain ridge with valleys on both sides.
It will take 2.5 hours to reach Brahmatal Top.
On this journey, revel in the glimpses of magnificent Himalayan Ranges. Mt. Trishul is very close along with the views of Nandhaghunti.
From the top, you can revel in the exotic views of snow covered Himalayan Ranges.
Proceed to the next camp site in Daldum and the trek will take up to 3 hours to finish. 2.7 KM will be the distance you would be covering with this trek.
Again, forests will be accompanying you through these trekking trails.
Stay overnight in tents.

Today, you will trail back to Lohajung along the same path you took to reach Brahmatal.
Once you reach here, check-in to your guest house and take a rest.

Conclude the trek and depart to Kathgodam early morning.
After your arrival at Kathgodam, the Brahmatal trek package comes to an end.
But, you can plan how to spend the day fruitfully on your own, be it sightseeing or shopping, Kathgodam will not disappoint you.

How is Brahmatal Trek weather?

– Winters (December-February): This is considered to be the best season for the Brahmatal trek. During these cold winter months, daytime temperatures of Brahmatal trek range between (8°C to 15°C. At the night, the temperatures fall to around 0°C to -7°C. The temperature inside the tent is better but can still be freezing at around 10°C.

– Summer and spring (March-October): The daytime weather of the Brahmatal trek remains cool and pleasant. Brahmatal trek temperatures vary depending on the altitude that you are at, during the trek. In lower camps, the Brahmatal trek weather is pleasant at around 10°C and higher camps at around 2°C

What is the best time to go for Brahmatal Trek?

As Brahmatal trek is known as a winter trek, it is best done in the months of December, January and February. However, during late March and April, the rhododendrons run a riot on this trail. Catch the sight of a variety of the red, pink, white rhododendrons during these seasons.
